Global warming is causing the end of the world

Global warming is the temperature rise that is mostly caused by human activities that increase the concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere caused by activities such as deforestation and burning of fossil fuels. Global warming can be seen in natural, social and ecological systems. Rising sea levels and observed decrease in the snow and ice content are a few effects of global warming on the natural system. Climatic conditions have become extreme for example we now experience extreme winters and extreme summers. There has been am increase in the areas that are affected by drought.

Oceans serve as a sink for the excess amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The oceans thus play a very crucial role in global warming. But the levels of carbon dioxide have increased to such an amount that it has lead to the acidification of oceans. Also as the temperature of the oceans rises their capacity to absorb oxygen decreases. Climate change is also having adverse effects on the agriculture and food production. The number of catastrophes has increased in the recent past. Devastation by water has become very common like floods, tsunamis, etc. These can be considered as a sign that global warming is causing the end of the world.

A lot of other factors such as increase in the use of fertilizers have caused global warming. Scientists have predicted an increase in the sea level especially on the east coast of US. This could displace a thousand of people. Maldives is already facing the fears of getting submerged because of the rising sea level. The severity of storms such as hurricanes and cyclones is increasing at a great rate. Such storms cause devastation at a very large scale and cause tremendous loss of life and property. These effects of global warming definitely suggest that global warming is causing the end of the world.

According to a research by the year 2050 global warming would cause the extinction of more than a million species. This news is definitely a warning for humans also. Also diseases like malaria are returning to areas from where they had been eradicated. This is a grave threat to human life also, as diseases like malaria can effect a huge population at one time.

In future lesser fresh water will be available. It is said that if the Quelccaya ice cap in Peru continues to melt at the rate at which it is currently melting then by 2100 it will no longer exist. This will leave thousands of people without any source of drinking water. Polar bears have already become skinnier. It is feared that if the sea ice keeps on melting and disappears someday then the polar bear might also become extinct. It is also predicted that the rainfall in Ethopia could decrease by almost 10% by the year 2050. Such a huge decrease in precipitation can definitely cause the situation of drought in Ethopia. Such conditions will not be conducive for the sustainment of life and so might result in the end of the world.
